Love in Two Languages
In the United States, nearly 10.8 million children under the age of nine —about 32% of that population— live in households where at least one parent speaks a language other than English. Spanish is the most common, present in more than 62% of those multilingual homes. Additionally, one in four preschool children is exposed to two or more languages early on. Yet, Spanish-language resources remain limited, especially those that support cultural identity and early learning.
More than 41 million people speak Spanish at home in the U.S., and millions of children grow up emotionally connected to the language, even if they don’t speak it fluently. At Alex’s World, we honor this reality: we create clothing and books in English and Spanish so children can learn, express themselves, and feel proud of the language that connects them to their roots, their families, and their world.
